How to solve a 1x2x3

Learn how to solve a 1x2x3. The 1x2x3 is one of the easiest twisty puzzles on the market and can usually be solved accidentally by just turning any old layer. There is, however, a method to solving the 1x2x3.

Notation

Before we learn how to solve the 1x2x3 we have to learn how to read an algorithm. There are 3 moves we need to know. R, B and F.

R

When performing an R move you need to rotate the right hand layer (as shown in the image above in colour) 180°

F

When performing an F move you need to rotate the back 1x2 black (as shown in the image above in colour) 180°

B

When performing a B move you need to rotate the back 1x2 black (as shown in the image above in colour) 180°

Step 1

In Step 1 we are going to bring all of the yellow pieces to the top layer.
There are only 4 possible ways that the pieces can be arranged on the Yellow and White pieces. You may have to rotate or flip your puzzle to match one of the patterns below.
